In April of 2012 it's reported by federal authorities that Anthony DiNunzio, 53, brother of Carmen S "The Cheeseman" DiNunzio, alleged former underboss of the New England crime family, is now the acting boss of the New England crime family.
On April 26, 2012 Anthony DiNunzio, of East Boston, pleaded not guilty to charges in an indictment accusing him of racketeering and extortion. It's alleged he's overheard on a wire tap stating “ If I go to the can, I'm still the boss…no matter what.”
DiNunzio appeared in federal court in Providence R.I. and is being held without bail pending a detention hearing.
