Genovese Capo Arillotta Talks to the Feds

Reputed Genovese capo Anthony Arillotta of Springfield MA, indicted last February for his alleged role in the 2003 hit of his predecessor Adolfo "Big Al" Bruno may now be talking to the Feds. Also charged in the Bruno hit are Arthur Nigro, a reputed former acting Genovese boss, and Fotios "Freddy" Geas, a supposed sometime enforcer for Arillotta. Frankie Roche, the admitted triggerman in the Bruno slaying, alleges that he was paid $10,000 by Geas for the job. In an ironic twist Arillotta allegedly sought Bruno’s hit on the suspicion that he Bruno, was weak and talking to the Feds. It now looks as if Arillotta is walking the same path. A classic case of Mob “Do as I say not as I do.” The trial against the defendants is scheduled for November 1st in the federal courthouse in Manhattan and according to a source Pasquale “Scop “DeLuca may be indicted as an additional defendant in the Massachusetts case. DeLuca, 78, is currently serving a five year prison term for his part in the conspiracy to murder mobster Ralph Coppola, who was killed in 1998 and whose body has never been found. Junior Gotti is considering doing a documentary film, book, and a full feature film on his life in the Gambino crime family. Gotti Jr., once the head of the Gambino crime family after filling his father’s shoes is seeking deals to tell his story about growing up as the “Teflon Don’s” son. Junior took the reigns of the Gambino family after Gotti Sr was indicted and sentenced to life for racketeering. Junior maintains he left the Gambino family in 1999 and severed all ties with organized crime. The Fed’s have made four separate attempts to convict him on charges related to organized crime but failed on all counts. The Fed’s say there will be no fifth attempt. Junior is collaborating with Triplicity Entertainment a smaller New York based production company which was formed in part by Tony D’Aiuto, one of Junior’s attorneys in his last trial. Gotti said he intends to be involved in the whole process of screenplays and productions. Junior spent about nine years in prison including three in solitary confinement and began writing his tale about four years ago. Mobster used Facebook to run empire from jail

Colin Gunn, one of Britain’s most dangerous gangsters has been using Facebook to threaten and intimidate his enemies from a maximum security prison. Gunn, an underworld godfather who ordered the execution of two grandparents, has been able to correspond freely with up to 565 “friends” on the social networking site for the past two months. Gunn, currently serving a 35-year term for conspiracy to commit murder, allegedly "has been using Facebook to threaten and intimidate his enemies from a maximum security prison" and "is said to be still running his drugs and organized crime cartel from jail." He claims he was allowed to set up a Facebook account by prison governors, suggesting it was his legal right. Critics believe the authorities may have turned a blind eye out of fear of receiving a legal challenge on human rights grounds. Junior Gotti may write true crime stories

John "Junior" Gotti says he may leave New York and try his hand at writing true crime stories now that the government has given up trying to put him in prison. The admitted former mobster held a celebration dinner Friday at a restaurant in the Long Island village of Westbury. Federal prosecutors announced Wednesday that after a series of hung juries they wouldn't seek a fifth retrial against the most famous man in organized crime. Gotti told reporters at the dinner that he is thinking about moving south and may write a true crime book. He says it may be "better for everybody" if he leaves the state. The Italian American Anti-Defamation League, later called the Italian-American Civil Rights League was formed in the early 1970's. On April 30, 1970 this group, led by mobster Joseph Colombo, picketed the Manhattan headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. They were there to protest the recent arrest of Colombo's son, Joseph Colombo Jr., on a charge of conspiracy to melt down old U.S. silver coins into ingots.Prior to this, the senior Colombo had complained of unfair harassment of him and his family by various federal law-enforcement authorities, who alleged that Colombo was the boss of one of New York City's five Mafia families — a charge he repeatedly denied. Joseph Colombo The 30 demonstrators who appeared at the FBI building were joined by others in successive days, and ultimately their number grew to more than 5,000. A logo, consisting of the numeral "1" superimposed upon a map of the United States, with the organization's name encircling it, was then devised. The logo invoked Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer. Within two months, the organization claimed 45,000 dues-paying members, and held a large rally in Columbus Circle on June 28, 1970. Italian-Americans hit back at Jersey Shore Snooki, the Situation, Vinny, DJ Pauly D, Ronnie, Angelina, Sammi and J-WOWW – the stars of MTV's new reality show, Jersey Shore – are distinguished by a common factor that has provoked controversy unusual even by the standards of the genre: they are Italian-American. Worse, they are self-styled "guidos" and "guidettes". "I love guidos! I love Italian boys with muscles," screeched Angelina soon after the start of the first episode of a series that has gained notoriety almost overnight. "I want to find the hottest guido and take him home," chimed in J-WOWW, real name Jenni, who gained her nickname apparently because when she walks into a bar the guys yell "J-WOWW!" The problem is that "guido" – slang for a working-class urban Italian-American – is widely perceived by Italian-Americans as a pejorative word, like "spic" or "wop", and the stereotype is unflattering. In its promotion for the series, which went on air last month, MTV said it had gathered the "hottest, tannest, craziest guidos" and assembled them in Seaside Heights, a popular beach resort. Not everyone is happy with the new TV series, "Jersey Shore." Italian-American interest group Unico National has asked members to boycott advertisers of the new MTV reality show, which follows a group of Italian-Americans living together in a summer house on the Jersey shore, according to ABC News. Andre DiMino, president of the largest Italian-American service organization in the U.S., recently told the New York Times that he found their behavior "reprehensible and demeaning in all respects." "I don't see any redeeming value in the show," DiMino told the Times. "They are an embarrassment to themselves and to their families." After the show's Dec. 3 premiere, featuring cast members self-described as "guidos" and "guidettes," MTV staffers were reportedly the target of threats, according to Fox News.com. "The MTV building in Times Square was getting crazy threats and they are in the process of hiring more security and bodyguards," an insider revealed to Fox News. MTV's reality show "Jersey Shore" has little in common with reality, say a group of Italian-American legislators who want the show yanked. Sen. Joseph F. Vitale, the chairman of the New Jersey Italian American Legislative Caucus, and Richard Bilotti, the chairman of the New Jersey Italian and Italian American Heritage Commission, have sent a letter to MTV parent company Viacom asking them to cancel the show — currently riding high a wave of pop culture interest — for its "offensive, inaccurate" portrayal of Italian-Americans. "Jersey Shore is a fabrication created by MTV Networks and marketed to represent reality," the letter says. "This is a far cry from a documentary of a naturally occurring subculture existing in New Jersey." Why the Mafia in Italy won’t be defeated by 2013

I may be coming off as negative regarding the previous post and honestly I don’t mean to be. Getting rid of organized crime would be a wonderful thing but, in a country where the population treat the deeds of organized crime as an everyday occurrence and are so blasé about their activity one has to ask, where’s the commitment? Case in point, an article by John Hopper of the Guardian: A 13-year-old Italian girl learned that her father had been murdered when a video of the killing was sent to her mobile telephone, her family said today. Mariano Bacioterracino was shot outside a bar in Naples on 11 May in what is thought to have been a "hit" organised by the Camorra, the Neapolitan mafia. Although CCTV footage of his death clearly showed the faces of the killer and his suspected look-out, prosecutors have been unable to trace either. Investigators released the video on Wednesday in the hope someone might lead them to the killers. But Bacioterracino's sister, Pasqualina, said today his daughter, Lucia, had already seen the footage of her father's death, days after the shooting.
