14 Alleged Gambino Mobsters indicted in NY

The Feds in New York City have indicted 14 reputed Gambino crime family members and associates on a host of "charges including racketeering, murder, sex trafficking, sex trafficking of a minor, jury tampering, extortion, assault, narcotics trafficking, wire fraud, loansharking, and illegal gambling" according to a press release by the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. The defendants include reputed boss Daniel Marino who allegedly has "over 200 fully-inducted or 'made' mafia members under his command, as well as hundreds of associates who commit crimes with and for the mafia." The others charged include reputed Gambino soldiers Thomas Orefice and Onofrio Modica who each allegedly supervise crews that include defendants Dominick DiFiore, Anthony Manzella, Michael Scotto, Michael Scarpaci, Thomas Scarpaci, David Eisler and Salvatore Borgia. The indictment also charges Steve Maiurro, Keith Dellitalia, Suzanne Porcelli and Anthony Vecchione with committing "crimes with and for the Gambino Family." For Immediate Release July 31, 2009 United States Attorney's Office District of Rhode Island Contact: (401) 709-5000 Union Officials, Contractor, Plead Guilty in Illegal Payment Scheme Nicholas Manocchio, the director of the New England Regional Organizing Fund (NEROF) of the Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA), pleaded guilty today to conspiring to receive money and other things of value from building contractors whose employees LIUNA represented. Gerald Diodati, a construction contractor, also pleaded guilty today to conspiring to make unlawful payments to LUNA officials, including Manocchio. Acting United States Attorney Luis M. Matos, Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Department of Justice Criminal Division, and Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, jointly announced the guilty pleas, which the defendants entered during separate hearings before U.S. District Court Judge William E. Smith in U.S. District Court, Providence. In May, a third defendant, Harold Tillinghast, a former organizer for NEROF, pleaded guilty to conspiring to receive money and other things of value from contractors whose employees LIUNA represented. Department of Justice News Release U.S. Department of Justice United States Attorney District of Rhode Island October 28, 2008 Former Union Official, Contractor are Charged with Illegal Payment Conspiracy Harold Tillinghast, a former Rhode Island-based organizer for Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA), and Gerald Diodati, a construction contractor, have been charged in a federal complaint with conspiring to make and receive unlawful payments from employers to labor union officials. United States Attorney Robert Clark Corrente and Bruce G. Ohr, Section Chief of the Organized Crime and Racketeering Section of the Department of Justice, announced the complaint, which was filed on October 17 in U.S. District Court, Providence, but placed under seal until today, when the defendants were arrested and appeared in court. According to an affidavit supporting the complaint, in 2002 the Federal Bureau of Investigation opened an undercover construction firm, known as Hemphill Construction. In 2003, an undercover FBI agent, posing as a principal of Hemphill Construction, met with Diodati and Tillinghast.
