Former Bonanno Capo Sentenced to Ten Years

A former Bonanno capo who turned government informant and helped convict Vincent “Vinny Gorgeous” Basciano, then acting boss of the Bonanno crime family, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Monday despite being involved in multiple murders. Prosecutors said Dominick Cicale, 44, was convicted of racketeering and involvement in two murders and assaults in aid of racketeering. He avoided a maximum life sentence by agreeing to turn against his former crime-world associates, according to a motion filed in court on Monday by the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Eastern District of New York. He was sentenced to 10 years prison and was given credit for about seven years already served. Prosecutors said that Cicale, who grew up in the Bronx in New York City, ascended the ranks of the Bonanno family from 1999 until his arrest in January 2005, during which time he took part in two “brutal” murders and other violence on the crime family’s behalf. He began cooperating with the government in January, 2006, the prosecution’s motion said, giving information and testimony that helped convict Basciano and a dozen other reputed Bonanno family members. Vincent "Vinny Gorgeous" Basciano, former Bonanno boss, was last summer shipped to the supermax facility in Florence, CO to serve out two life terms after being convicted for ordering from prison the 2004 hit against mob associate Randolph Pizzolo, and his conviction in 2007 for the 2001 murder of drug dealer Frank Santoro. Basciano has been released from solitary confinement to the general population but is still confined to his cell for most of the day and now gets to participate in recreation a few more hours weekly alongside other inmates, sources said. “Mob Wives” star Renee Graziano was rushed to a NYC hospital by ambulance … just hours after feds busted her father and several other Bonanno crime family members. Sources close to the Graziano family tell TMZ … Renee had a panic attack, collapsed, and had trouble breathing when she got news that her dad, Anthony “TG” Graziano, had been arrested in an early morning raid. A “Mob Wives” rep confirms Renee was admitted to the emergency room and is still getting treatment right now. Feds Bust Five Alleged Bonanno Family Mobsters

A joint investigation between the DEA and FBI culminated in the arrest of five high-ranking members of the Bonanno crime family, who were charged with racketeering, extortion, illegal gambling and drug distribution, officials said. The five alleged gangsters include “made” Bonanno member Vincent Badalamenti, a.k.a. “Vinny TV, and Nicholas “Nicky Mouth” Santora, who previously did 15 years in prison after undercover FBI agent Joseph Pistone—dubbed “Donnie Brasco”—infiltrated the family by posing as a gangster in the late 1970s. Also arrested were Bonanno crime family members Anthony “TG” Graziano, alleged captain Vito Balsamo, and alleged foot soldier Anthony Calabrese. Investigators say they caught Graziano on tape when he was in prison telling an informant to get money from an extortion victim and “open him up” in necessary. As it happens, the recording was made by DEA informant Hector Pagan, who is the boyfriend of “Mob Wives” star Renee Graziano—TG is her father and Pagan wore a wire to record the conversations. Mob Tied Ringleader Sentenced to 12 Years

The “organizer” of a group of South Florida crooks with ties to the Bonanno crime family was sentenced on Friday to 12 years and seven months in federal prison. Thomas Fiore, 49, formerly of Boynton Beach, admitted to orchestrating a series of crimes, including soliciting the murder of a former business associate and torching his Royal Palm Beach gym in 2007. Fiore has already served a few years of his sentence and is eligible for release in 2020. He was re-sentenced because of a minor appellate issue. Prosecutors said he followed in the footsteps of his uncle, Gerard “Gerry” Chilli, who federal authorities say is a Bonanno family captain. Fiore cried in court as his lawyer Phil Horowitz asked for a 10-year prison term so Fiore would have some hope of release before his parents, who are in their 80s, die. Prosecutor Jeffrey Kaplan recommended the tougher punishment, noting that Fiore committed crimes “on a daily basis” while he was on probation for a prior crime. Anthony “T.G” Graziano, the father of “Mob Wives” star Renee Graziano and former Bonanno crime family consigliere was indicted on Friday on extortion conspiracy charges. Brooklyn federal prosecutors say Graziano conspired to collect a $100,000 debt with the aid of several other mobsters. The RCMP charged Colagero Milioto, Raynald Desjardins, Vittorio Mirarchi, Felice Racaniello and Jack Simpson, suspected mobsters tied to the Rizzuto clan for their alleged roles in the November hit against former NYC Bonanno boss Salvatore Montagna. Yesterday, without explanation a judge incredibly denied a defense request to unseal the court documents which resulted in the seizure of BlackBerry messages leading to their arrest. Federal prosecutor Yvan Poulin said it was in the public interest to not share the documents in any way. "Read the authorization (for the warrants) in your office" Poulin told the judge. "It speaks for itself . . . I can't say anything more about it . . . This is an exceptional case." The unprecedented secrecy over the documents suggests "that the RCMP and Crown prosecutors are trying to protect a more important investigation still under way, a well-placed source, or even national security." There's also speculation that the FBI may be ready to bust New York mobsters for their alleged roles in whacking Montagna who aligned himself with the Calabrian Mafia or 'Ndrangheta in a bid to take over the Montreal underworld from the Sicilian Mafia or Cosa Nostra with which the Rizzuto clan is affiliated.
