Members of 'Ndrangheta detonated a bomb at the entrance to the apartment building of Salvatore Di Landro who is the top anti-mafia magistrate in Reggio Calabria. Fortunately no one was injured by the blast. The syndicate's crime clans are based in Calabria, but investigators say it increasingly operates out of northern Italy, Germany, Spain, Colombia, Mexico and elsewhere.
Authorities say the pre-dawn explosion Thursday in Reggio Calabria was apparently the latest act of intimidation by the 'Ndrangheta, a global cocaine trafficker. It shattered windows and the door, but magistrate Salvatore Di Landro and other occupants were unharmed.
Last month, 300 'ndrangheta suspects were arrested.
