A federal prisioner who was a member of a Boston drug and robbery gang known as the DeCologero Crew which allegedly was tied to the Carroza faction of the Patriarca crime family escaped from federal custody. Derek Capozzi kicked out the door of a van and fled during a prisoner transport in central Kentucky. He was on the loose for several days before his capture.

The Fed’s re-examine a mob hit which took place in Providence R.I. on Federal Hill in 1992. Kevin Hanrahan, an associate of the Patriarca crime family was shot and killed on Atwells Ave. after leaving a local restaurant.

New information came to light in court documents filed in February of 2010. According to the documents, an FBI informant — described as a Taunton, Mass., bookmaker — said he was being shaken down for protection money by Hanrahan. In response, the document states the informant and another man pay a visit to a man named Gordon O'Brien to complain about the shake-down. The affidavit describes O'Brien as "a significant organized crime figure in Southeastern Massachusetts." According to the documents, the informant claims that during that meeting, O'Brien made a phone call to Frank "Cadillac Frank" Salemme in Boston, then-mob boss of the New England Crime Family. Within days of the call, according to the affidavit, Hanrahan was murdered. The document does not disclose who pulled the trigger, but it does reveal the FBI is investigating Salemme for allegedly ordering the hit. Salemme's attorney, Steven Boozang of Boston, Mass., said the theory is ridiculous.

The second and third videos provide background from Law Enforcement officials on Hanrahan and O'Brien.  Go here to read about the arrest of Hanrahan and O’Brien who were working together in 1990 on the east side of Providence.
