Convicted mob associate Thomas Iafrate 70, of Johnston, is beginning his sentence at the Wyatt Detention Center temporarily until he is assigned a permanent facility by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

Former bookkeeper for the Cadillac Lounge strip club, Iafrate was convicted of delivering extortion payments from adult entertainment businesses to the reputed former boss of the Patriarca crime family, Luigi “Baby Shacks” Manocchio.

Manocchio and four others have pledged to plead guilty in a deal with prosecutors made public last week.
