Fabio Allegro, a suspected drug trafficker from the Polverini clan of the Camorra who has been on the run from Italian authorities for several years, has been arrested in Spain. Allegro is wanted for drug trafficking in Italy and is thought to have been involved in trafficking hashish in Spain.
In a joint operation between the Guardia Civil Organized Crime and Anti-drugs unit and the Arma de Carabinieri he was arrested in Estepona, Málaga. He is thought to have been in Spain for some years, fleeing a prison sentence handed down against him by the Italian authorities.
Allegro is considered to have established close links to the hashish traffickers in Morocco during his time in Spain, and is thought to have been part of illegal activity worth hundreds of millions of Euro while there. He will be extradited to Italy to face charges.
